Community Support and Outreach
Our Benefit Concert, featuring The Rick Hulett Band, on Saturday, February 5th not only charged up in energy in the retired Laundromat before construction of our new Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Clinic begins – it raised over $1,000 for the The United Way of the Columbia Gorge!
In our communities we provide educational workshops and lectures, at no charge.
Our very own Carola Stepper, LAc, RN Retired, is an active member of the Foundation for Wellness Professionals, (www.wellnessspeakers.org). This is a nationwide volunteer association of health care professionals who devote their time as motivational speakers. The mission of the organization is to deliver educational workshops, at no charge, on health related topics in their local communities. Carola’s lectures for civic organizations (Lions, Rotary, Soroptimists, PEO) and Businesses (Google, Insitu, Heart of Hospice), have all been very well received. Her presentations have been described as informational, motivational and entertaining. For additional information regarding this service we offer, please click here and then call us at (541) 387-4325 to arrange for a presentation for you and your co-workers, or organization.
Annually we participate in over 3 dozen health screenings and events.
Ranging from Heath Fairs and related events throughout the region to reoccurring Health Screenings at the Hood River Saturday Market.
Each year we donate cash and services to local organizations, including:
- Numerous professional and civic groups
- Families in the Park
- White Salmon Spring Festival
- MCMC- Heart Disease Research Fund, Columbia Arts Center
- Big Brother Big Sister
- Mosier Community School
- Gorge Grown Food Network
- Kiteboarding for Cancer
- The United Way
In addition, and we are proud to serve as a reoccurring donation site for our local Food Banks.
We are there to support our community members affected by traumatic events and their care givers.
On a smaller scale, as part of our outreach and compassion, we have provided free Acupuncture treatments to individuals affected by large stressors in their lives, such as the loss of a person’s business to a fire and for another person, who had just returned from volunteering for many weeks in Haiti.
On a larger scale, we have offered numerous Care Giver events and Community Appreciation offerings of free Acupuncture care, as our way of thanking, and helping to care for, those who help others.
We make our services accessible for most anyone.
Annually, in honor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine day, we offer Acupuncture Treatments, at no charge, which allows people to experience the beauty of what Acupuncture can offer, without financial barriers.
We have offered a sliding fee scale for persons with lower incomes since opening our business. This scale lowers the price per treatment by 25-30% for those who qualify. We do not have a cap on how many clients we offer the sliding fee scale rates to. Business advisors have suggested numerous times over the years to stop offering sliding fee scale prices, but we feel it is important to offer this so that most anyone is able to receive treatment in our clinics. It is our desire to continue these lower cost treatments, in order to make Acupuncture treatments available to as many people as possible. Due to being insurance providers we need to document why we give discounts, hence the income verification.
We provide opportunities for fun physical activity for the public.
We believe dance is beneficial in many ways for health and well being. This belief has lead to the creation, and sponsorship by Cascade Acupuncture Center of the ongoing Groove in the Gorge dance events.
We are proud members of our local Chambers.
