Please allow us to introduce ourselves
We are a team of Acupuncturists: Carola Stepper, LAc, RN retired, Nikol Clark, LAc and Rebecca Herrin, LAc who share the care of our clients. We are Board certified (NCCAOM) Licensed Acupuncturists (L.Ac.) and hold a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (M.Ac.O.M.). The team approach allows for input in your care from multiple practitioners, opening hours Monday through Saturday in the Gorge between both locations and uninterrupted clinic hours, in case of absence of one of us.
We all practice the same style of Acupuncture, Dr. Tan’s style, where clients can conveniently be needled below the elbows and the knees. This style produces reliably excellent and often instant positive results. All Acupuncturists continue to attended advanced trainings in this style.
Carola Stepper, LAc, RN retired
I was born in the US and raised in Germany. I returned to the United States in my mid twenties and have lived in Maui, Portland and Hood River.
I graduated as a Professional Nurse in ’89 and worked in Hospitals in Germany and the U.S. as well as Home Health Care and Hospice Care. Later, I graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland with a Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
I have continued my studies with Dr Richard Tan, inventor of the Balance Method for instant results, a style of Acupuncture that works quickly and effectively for the treatment of pain.
I founded Cascade Acupuncture Center, LLC, and am currently seeing new and established clients in Hood River and The Dalles, as well as doing administrative work.
I love seeing our client’s health improving and being part of their lives changing! I also enjoy client education, giving lectures, managing the company and holding our vision to help as many people as possible to get well naturally.
Please consider joining me at Linked In.
Carola is also the owner of Cascade Acupuncture Seminars, LLC and teaches a one day continuing education class “How to Grow and Sustain a Healthy Acupuncture Practice” to Licensed Acupuncturists and Acupuncture Students.
Nikol Clark, LAc
I was raised in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Leavenworth, Washington and have lived in almost every state in the west. During my travels, I stayed put long enough in one place to earn my Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz, California.
After receiving my degree, I again resumed my traveling ways and continued my education, in supplementary healing modalities, while applying my Acupuncture skills in several western states and internationally.
A beautiful new addition to my family, my daughter Hazel Rae, born in February 2010 in Hood River, has finally brought me back home to the Pacific Northwest. I look forward to setting down roots and to the opportunity of nurturing relationships with both the local community and clients of Cascade Acupuncture Center.
In addition to my role as an Acupuncturist in the Hood River and The Dalles clinics, I am also serving in the capacity of Marketing Assistant and on-call office support. I enjoy my varied duties which keep me both challenged and satisfied and look forward to helping you reach your health goals.
Rebecca Herrin, LAc
I was born and raised in New Hampshire and found my way to Oregon via sailboard vacations; making the move west in 1991. Since moving to the northwest I have lived in the Portland area and White Salmon. I currently reside, with my family, in Corbett and find myself inching my way back to the Gorge!
Before finding the wonders of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine I worked for both NIKE and Patagonia in the capacity of sports marketing and sales.
I attended the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine in 2002, and have since worked in private practice in Portland and have spent time raising our daughters.
I am excited to have the opportunity to work at Cascade Acupuncture Center and to helping many of you achieve good health and wellness.
Dolly Brandt, LMT
I am originally from the Hood River Valley. I graduated from East-West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon in 2004. The training involved more than 650 hours of education in human sciences and massage practice with a special interest in athletic and sports massage. Additionally I earned my
Oregon State Massage License after rigorous state and national testing. It is very rewarding for me to help people to reap the physical and emotional benefits of regular massage therapy while experiencing a great reduction in chronic pain! I enjoy working on a wide variety of clients with all different needs, from tension headaches, to back pain, sciatica symptoms, and of course the all important — stress reduction!
As the first massage therapist at Cascade Acupuncture Center, I am happy to be part of such a wonderful team of professionals! I look forward to continuing to serve the communities of the Columbia Gorge.
I provide Massage Therapy in both offices, Hood River and The Dalles.
Lisa Shirk
I was born in Nevada, but have spent most of my life raising my family in and around the Columbia River Gorge. I graduated from Portland Paramedical Center in 1981. I spent most of my professional life working for Luhr Jensen & Sons in Hood River, OR.
I am the Operations Manager at Cascade Acupuncture Center. I love working in a place where the primary motivation is to help people feel better and improve the quality of their life. A family member was given a new lease through Acupuncture, and it’s important to me to let people know that Acupuncture is a safe, effective and non-invasive care option that can benefit us all, and which needn’t be a last resort for our health care needs.
Jacki Foster
I was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon. I have held office positions in various western medicine clinics, but have found my purpose supporting alternative medicine.
I am the office manager of Cascade Acupuncture Center in The Dalles, and I enjoy helping people from all walks of life attain health naturally and educating them about how Chinese Medicine can improve their overall quality of life.
Susan Vallie
I’m a native Oregonian, who, after relocating to the area, was fortunate enough to become a part of the Cascade Acupuncture Center family. I bring to our organization almost 30 years of marketing experience, including a 15-year stint as part of the Marketing Team for the Les Schwab Tire Company. I’m currently assisting with the implementation of the various marketing activities of the organization. I enjoy helping to educate people about what our clinics have to offer those who desire to regain their health and vitality.
Amy Rowland
I was born and raised in the Columbia River Gorge, and can honestly say that I cannot imagine my life anywhere else. I am happily married to my wonderful husband Jeremy, and we had our first child, our son Raef in March 2011. I love spending time with my family, reading and continuing my education in any aspect.
You will find me to be a motivated person, who like you, is working my way to a more balanced lifestyle. I believe that to achieve a balanced lifestyle a person should use techniques from all avenues of life. I personally found that Acupuncture is a wonderful technique to help one achieve a more balanced lifestyle. I believe this not only as an employee, but as a very satisfied recipient who has first hand experience with the benefits of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help others achieve the kind of improvement both I and my husband have received through our Acupuncture care.
I am the Office Assistant as well as Marketing Assistant and work in both offcies, Hood River and The Dalles.
Mike Gundlach
I was born in Walla Walla, Washington and spent approximately half my childhood there and the other half overseas. Since then I have always lived in the Northwest with the exception of going to college in Santa Barbara, CA, where I graduated with a B.S. in Business Economics from U.C.S.B. The Northwest has always been home to me and I love the Gorge and all it has to offer.
I am the Business Manager, and I am honored to be a part of the CAC team supporting their efforts to help people heal naturally with Chinese medicine. The history and healing ability of oriental medicine makes it a wonderful alternative for people who are looking to improve the quality of their life in a holistic way. In support of the CAC team, I work on various business projects that help to improve efficiencies and the overall work environment to ensure our practitioners and office staff can focus their time on our clients.
